Tracking and attribution
- Attribution
- Tying an order to the creator who brought it. In Inflow, every order shows how: link, code, script or manual.
- Tracked link
- A link that belongs to one creator, ideally to one post. It counts clicks and passes the creator’s reference to the store. See influencer sales tracking.
- Influencer promo code
- A personal code (for example AMIRA10) that gives the shopper a discount and names the creator. See promo codes vs tracked links.
- Link in bio
- The link in the creator’s profile, useful on TikTok and Instagram when posts have no clickable link. In Inflow, orders through the bio link count for the latest post.
- Attribution window
- How long a click still counts if the shopper comes back to order later. 30 days by default with the tracking script.
- Tracking script
- A small optional script on the store that remembers the click so later orders are credited. It collects no personal data.
- QR code
- A tracked link as an image, for packaging or posters. Each scan counts as a click.
- Repeat buyer
- A customer a creator brought who comes back to order again. Inflow shows it, without creating a new commission.
Commission and pay
- Commission
- What the creator earns on a sale: a percentage or a fixed amount. See how much to pay an influencer.
- Flat fee
- A fixed amount paid for a post, whatever the number of sales.
- Affiliate marketing
- A model where the partner is paid per sale, through a link or code of their own.
- Tiers
- Rates that rise with the number of orders a creator delivers, counted each month or since the start.
- Cash on delivery (COD)
- The customer pays in cash when the parcel arrives. A placed order is only collected once delivered.
- Earned commission
- A commission that is owed because the order reached the stage the brand chose, delivery by default.
- Reversed commission
- A commission taken back because the order was returned or exchanged after delivery.
- Payout hold
- The delay between delivery and the moment the commission becomes available, to cover late returns. 7 days by default.
Payment and trust
- Payout
- Paying a commission to the creator: requested, approved by the brand, transferred, marked paid, then confirmed by the creator.
- Bulk transfer file
- An Excel or CSV file with each beneficiary, IBAN and amount, to import into your bank (Growth and Scale plans).
- Payment reliability
- A label creators can see, showing whether the brand pays approved payouts on time.
- Pausing links
- A creator can suspend their links and codes for a brand that does not pay. See get paid by brands.
- Verified results
- Delivered orders tracked by Inflow itself, not declared by the creator.
- UGC (user-generated content)
- Photos or videos made by customers or creators that the brand reuses. Content can be paid with a flat fee; if it carries a link or code, its sales are tracked like the rest.
- Seeding (free products)
- Sending a creator a free product so they can try it before talking about it.
Vocabulary questions
What is the difference between affiliate and influencer marketing?
Influencer marketing is working with creators in general. Affiliate is one way to pay them: per sale, through a link or a code.
What is a tracked link?
A link that belongs to one creator: it counts clicks and lets the order placed afterwards be credited to the right creator.
What is the delivery rate?
The share of attributed orders that were delivered. With cash on delivery, it is a better measure than the number of orders.
What does “pending commission” mean?
The order is placed but not delivered yet. The amount is an estimate and only becomes owed on delivery.
What is a micro-influencer?
A creator with a modest but close and engaged audience. Paid on commission, they are often the most profitable for a store.
What is UGC?
Content made by customers or creators and reused by the brand, for example in ads.
