Paying influencer commission on delivery in Tunisia: how it works

With cash on delivery, an order only becomes a sale when the customer pays the courier. Your creators’ commission should follow the same rule. Here is how it works, with numbers, from the order to the bank transfer.

The principle: commission follows the money

In a Tunisian online store, the customer orders on Instagram or on your site, then pays cash when the parcel arrives. Plenty can happen in between: the customer cannot be reached, the parcel is refused, the order is cancelled, exchanged or returned after delivery.

Paying commission on delivery is simple: the creator earns the commission when the parcel reaches the customer, not when the order is placed. If the parcel is not taken, nobody earns anything, neither you nor the creator. Both sides finally look at the same number: sales that were actually paid for.

The principle is the same whether you pay a percentage or a fixed amount per order. To pick the rate, see how much to pay an influencer.

Why paying per order placed loses you money

When commission is owed as soon as the order is placed, you also pay it on refused and returned parcels. A typical month with a creator who brings 50 orders:

Example: a 120 TND product, 10% commission on the subtotal (12 TND per order), one month
Creator’s ordersCountPaid per order placedPaid on delivery
Refused at the door or cancelled784 TND0 TND
Delivered, then returned448 TND0 TND (reversed)
Delivered and kept39468 TND468 TND
Total50600 TND468 TND

In this example, paying per order placed costs 132 TND more, for 11 parcels that brought you nothing and often cost you delivery and return fees. Example figures. To run it with your own numbers: the commission calculator.

The risk is not only financial. A creator paid per order has no reason to care about the quality of the orders they bring. Paid on delivery, they gain from presenting the product honestly, to the right audience.

From order to payout: the steps

  1. Order placed. The order is credited to the creator (tracked link or promo code). Their commission is pending: an estimate, not money owed yet.
  2. Parcel delivered. The commission is earned. A refused, cancelled or never-delivered order earns nothing.
  3. Hold period. Earned commission waits a few days (7 by default in Inflow, adjustable) to cover late returns.
  4. Available. After the hold, the amount moves to the creator’s available balance and they can request a payout.
  5. Approval and transfer. You approve the request; it is then due within 7 days. You pay by bank transfer and mark it paid, with the transfer reference.

In Inflow, delivery is the default and recommended stage. You can pick shipping or confirmation to pay earlier, but you then carry the return risk until the hold ends. Creators see, for each brand, when their commission is earned.

Returns and exchanges: automatic reversal

A customer can keep the parcel two days and then return it. If the commission was already earned, it is reversed: in Inflow, a return or exchange after delivery takes the commission off the creator’s balance on its own, and the order shows why on both sides.

That is what the hold period is for: most returns arrive before the money is available. If a return comes in after a payout was approved, the creator’s balance can go below zero; it is offset against their next commissions. No manual maths, no awkward message asking for money back.

Pay everyone with one file

Each creator saves their bank details once (account holder, IBAN, bank document). You verify them once. Then, on Growth and Scale, you download one Excel or CSV file of approved payouts: beneficiary name, IBAN, bank, amount and a reference per payout, ready for a bulk transfer in your bank. Creators with missing or unverified details are listed separately.

After the transfer, you mark each payout paid (date, reference, a receipt if you like) and the creator confirms receipt. The money goes straight from your account to theirs: it never passes through Inflow, which takes nothing from commissions. See pricing.

Putting the rule in place in your store

  • Write the rule before the post: “10% of the subtotal, on delivered orders, after a 7-day hold”. No surprises for anyone.
  • Give the creator a link and a code in their name, so every order is credited without argument. See influencer sales tracking.
  • Show them their orders and each status: a creator who sees why an order does not count does not dispute it.
  • Pay on time. Good creators pick brands that pay, and in Inflow they see your payment reliability.

Questions about commission on delivery

What is commission paid on delivery?

Commission the creator earns only when the parcel is delivered to the customer. A refused, cancelled or returned order earns them nothing.

How long is the hold period?

7 days by default in Inflow, and you can change it. It covers late returns before the commission becomes available.

What if the customer returns the product after delivery?

The commission is reversed automatically. The creator sees the order marked as returned in their portal, with the same status you see.

Can I pay commission earlier, on shipping?

Yes, you can pick shipping or confirmation. Returns are still reversed, but you carry the risk until the hold ends. Delivery remains the recommended stage.

Is it fairer to the creator?

It is clearer: they are paid on what the customer actually paid, they see every order’s status and they know when their money will be available.

How do I pay several creators at once?

On Growth and Scale, download the bank file (Excel or CSV) of approved payouts and import it in your bank, then mark each payout paid.

Does Inflow collect the commission money?

No. You pay your creators directly by bank transfer. Inflow calculates and keeps the record of what is owed, approved and paid.
