Why confirm every order
A COD order can be placed in ten seconds, without paying. That is its strength and its weakness: a customer in a hurry, a wrong number, a random size, an order placed twice, or an order “just to see”. If you ship everything, you pay delivery, then often the return, for parcels nobody will pay for.
Confirmation is a short conversation before shipping. It checks that the customer is real, wants this product, knows the exact price and will be there to receive the parcel. It guarantees nothing 100%, but every problem caught before shipping is one courier round trip saved.
By phone: the classic method
A call is still the most reliable confirmation in Tunisia: the customer hears a real person, and you hear whether they hesitate.
- Call fast, ideally the same day. The fresher the wish to buy, the more customers confirm.
- Plan several attempts at different times before cancelling. Log each attempt.
- Introduce yourself with the store name and the product: many customers ordered from several stores that week.
- Keep it short: two minutes is enough. The goal is to check, not to sell again.
By WhatsApp: handy, and in writing
A WhatsApp message sent from the store’s number works well for customers who do not pick up unknown numbers. It leaves a written record: order summary, total amount, address. Ask for a clear answer (“Yes, I confirm”) rather than an emoji, and call if the customer has not answered within the day.
Example message: “Hello, this is [store]. You ordered [product, size, colour]. Total to pay the courier: [amount] TND, delivery included. Delivery to [city, address]. Do you confirm? Which days will you be available?”
A ready-to-use call script
- “Hello, I’m [first name] from [store]. You ordered [product] yesterday, is that right?”
- “Let me confirm: [product], size [M], colour [black], quantity [1]. Correct?”
- “The total to pay the courier is [amount] TND, delivery included.”
- “The address is [address], in [city]. Is there a landmark for the courier? A second number?”
- “Delivery usually takes [time]. Which days are you available?”
- “Great, we’ll ship it. Thank you and have a good day.”
If the customer hesitates on size or price, settle it now: changing the order costs less than a return.
The double check before shipping
A confirmed order can still hide a typing mistake. Before handing the parcel to the courier, a second person (or you, with fresh eyes) reads it again:
| Check | How | What it prevents |
|---|---|---|
| The customer is real and wants the product | A call or message, with a clear answer | Fake orders, joke orders |
| Product, size, colour, quantity | Read the order back to the customer | Returns because “this is not what I ordered” |
| Total price, delivery included | State the exact amount to pay the courier | Refusals at the door over a price surprise |
| Address, city, governorate | Ask for a landmark and a second number | Lost parcels, a courier who cannot find the place |
| When the customer is available | Ask which days and times they can receive | Customer away, parcel sent back |
| Duplicates | Look for another order from the same number | Two parcels for one purchase |
A confirmed COD order is not a sale yet: it becomes one when the customer pays the courier. For the rest of the journey, see cash on delivery explained.
Confirmation, returns and creator commission
Good confirmation lowers refusals at the door and returns, because it fixes before shipping what would have caused a refusal afterwards. The causes and other levers are in reducing your return rate.
For orders brought by influencers, confirmation counts twice. A story can trigger many impulse orders within an hour. With Inflow, each order is already credited to the creator through their link or code: your team confirms as usual, and the status (confirmed, shipped, delivered, refused) comes back from your Converty store. Inflow also flags orders worth a second look, such as several orders from the same number for one creator.
The creator’s commission is earned only on delivery (the default): an order cancelled at confirmation earns them nothing, and they can see why. More in commission on delivery.
Questions about COD order confirmation
Should I confirm every cash-on-delivery order?
Yes, it is the safest practice. Every order shipped without a check costs a delivery, and often a return, if the customer does not take it.
Phone or WhatsApp: which one?
They work together. A call is the most reliable; WhatsApp reaches customers who do not pick up and leaves a written record of the amount and address.
How many attempts before cancelling an order?
There is no official rule. Set your own, for example several calls at different times over one or two days plus a message, and apply it to everyone.
What should I say if the customer hesitates?
Ask what holds them back: size, price, delivery time. Change the order if needed. Cancelling now costs less than a refused parcel.
Does Inflow confirm orders for me?
No. Inflow does not call your customers or send messages. It reads each order’s status in your Converty store and uses it for commission.
Does a confirmed order earn the creator commission?
Not by default: commission is earned on delivery. A brand can choose confirmation instead, but it then carries the return risk.
Are influencer orders harder to confirm?
They often arrive in waves after a post. Confirm them fast, and look closer at the orders Inflow flags, such as several orders from the same number.
